Core Project

Coal to Methanol Project

Converting low-rank coal into 2 million tonnes of methanol per year.

Converting low-rank coal into methanol

Low-rank coal feedstock is processed through gasification technology into high-value methanol, with sulphuric acid as a by-product.

BEC coal-to-methanol process flow diagramLow-rank coal enters the main process units: Coal Drying, Coal Gasification (supplied with oxygen from the Air Separation Unit), Shift Reactor, Rectisol, Methanol Synthesis, and Methanol Distillation, producing 2 million tonnes of IMPCA-grade methanol per year. A branch from Rectisol to Sulphur Recovery yields sulphuric acid as a by-product. Strategic Location

Direct Sea Access

Direct access to the Makassar Strait - easing distribution and export logistics.

Close to Coal Supply

East Kutai Regency holds abundant low-rank coal reserves.

BCIP Industrial Estate

Located in PT Batuta Chemical Industrial Park (approx. 943 ha). An application for Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status is in progress to secure fiscal incentives.
